Red Hat Public Sector Services is seeking a Project Manager with an Active Top Secret security clearance to deliver solutions that address client business challenges. This role involves managing high-complexity technical implementations and promoting Red Hat's recommended practices. You will leverage project management expertise and interpersonal skills to drive adoption of Red Hat's solutions for customers.

About the role

This position requires on-site work with clients, including regular travel to customer locations in the Washington D.C. metro area and occasional U.S. travel. You will guide customers from project initiation through successful delivery, coordinate cross-functional teams, mitigate risks, and ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and with high customer satisfaction. The role also involves developing project collateral, supporting accounting activities, and continuously learning new skills and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Guide customers through software services engagements from initiation to successful delivery.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and with excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate project risks and resolve issues at the enterprise level.
  • Develop and present project collateral, including reports, documentation, and presentations.
  • Support accounting activities, including burn reporting, revenue forecasting, and invoicing.
  • Travel weekly (Monday-Thursday) to client locations, including some outside your local area.
  • Develop innovative solutions using open practice library methodologies, industry-standard project management practices, and Red Hat policies.
  • Interact with project resources, senior Red Hat and customer management, and Red Hat Support teams (e.g., Resource Management, Operations, and Finance).

Onboarding and Growth

After joining Red Hat, you will undergo an intensive, customized training program on Red Hat technologies and services solutions. Here’s how your skills will evolve:

  • Within 2 months: Join a project team by gaining an understanding of production-ready technical solutions, learning consulting skills through Red Hat enablements and certifications, and collaborating within Red Hat Services and the broader organization.
  • Within 6 months: Support customer success as a technical lead by delivering projects collaboratively, developing project plans aligned with Red Hat’s technologies, and expanding your knowledge and network through enablements, communities, and customer interactions.
  • Within 12 months: Demonstrate technical leadership by successfully implementing complex, large-scale solutions in customer environments and actively engaging with internal and external communities of practice to share lessons learned and best practices.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret security clearance.
  • Experience delivering technical consulting engagements to the U.S. Government using industry-specific methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead project delivery teams.
  • Ability to meet client needs and interface with executive leadership.
  • Experience identifying stakeholder needs and setting expectations for project timelines and scope.
  • Experience working collaboratively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and desire to mentor team members.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience leading modern cloud platform consulting engagements and implementing Red Hat’s open hybrid cloud technologies (e.g., Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat OpenShift).
  • Broad and deep experience with project management standards (e.g., PMP, CMS, SAFe, or equivalent).
  • Practical experience with the software development lifecycle and DevSecOps approaches.
  • Experience with financial tools like SalesForce and professional services automation platforms.
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets, including P&L oversight, financial forecasting, and resource allocation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets for data analysis, project tracking, and executive-level reporting.
  • Ability to work with leadership to promote best practices and improve consulting engagement success.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $107,980.00 - $172,730.00. Actual compensation will be based on qualifications. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity.
