Position Summary
Responsible for overseeing a Project Management team to ensure its proper functioning; mentoring and development of Project Management resources; and facilitating interdepartmental communication & cooperation.
Essential Duties And Other Responsibilities
- Supervise the activities of the Project Management Team.
- Support the Project Management Team by providing training and development of Project Managers, including performance reviews.
- Assign work based on capacity and workload of each individual team member.
- Oversee VMB to ensure that communication flows through the company to achieve on-time completion of all necessary work.
- Negotiate and influence other departments to work through problems with the customer or internally that may inhibit our ability to meet customer needs.
- Hire, conduct disciplinary actions, and terminate employees within the Project Management department.
- Negotiate contract terms & conditions directly with the customer; including scope of work, payment terms, warranty & other commercial terms.
- Fiscal responsibility and accountability to secure credible revenue targets are met for the primary Plant.
- Work with accounting to make sure that billings (invoices) for work completed are submitted to the customer in a timely manner. Also assist Accounting in collection activities as required.
- Participate in project Kick Off Meetings as needed on a project-to-project basis.
- Work through conflicts with the customer, with the goal of resolving issues so that the customer is satisfied AND so that CST is not financially disadvantaged by the resolution.
- Aid Sales & Account management with review of plans & specs for jobs they are bidding.
Qualifications
- Four-year college degree in a technical discipline. PMP certification is desirable.
- Must have experience project managing industrial and/or construction type projects.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Organizational skills necessary to manage multiple construction projects simultaneously while maintaining or improving each project’s profitability.
- Interpersonal skills commensurate with the need to interface effectively with external customers and to lead internal project teams to successful and profitable project completion.
- Familiarity with construction equipment and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical plans and specifications.
- Ability to understand and advantageously negotiate contract terms and conditions.
- Mathematical skills must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole, fractional and decimal numbers.
