Project Manager, System PMO
About the role
Join one of the nation’s premier academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine, as a Project Manager – System PMO. This position is based on-site at Hyde Park, with some remote flexibility. Some travel to alternate site locations around Chicagoland will be required.
Responsibilities
- Identifies and manages project resource needs and goals - strategies, staffing, scheduling, issue resolution, contingency plans, communication plans, and change control.
- Responsible for all phases of project, assigning individual responsibilities, coordinating activities of project team, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of project.
- Supports the execution and coordinates the projects of multiple team members and leaders.
- Oversees relevant project documents and deliverables and report on progress throughout the project life cycle as well as acquire a deep understanding of internal administrative systems and existing capabilities, to support the operations team in the efforts to drive operational efficiencies and provide solutions to a variety of business challenges.
- Provides guidance, coaching and support for less experienced colleagues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, projection management, health care, or related discipline
- At least five years of project management experience
- Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
- Through knowledge of formal project management methodologies and proven skill in effective execution
- Proficient and functional knowledge of MS Office (including Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access, Outlook)
- Thorough knowledge of formal project management methodologies and proven skill in effective execution
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
- Ability to execute project management leveraging Lean process improvement methodology
- Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels in the organization
- Demonstrates strong knowledge and competency regarding lean tools, methods and mindset
Qualifications
- Hours outside normal business hours may be occasionally required to meet project deadlines
- Requires prior experience managing multiple large projects and working effectively in multidisciplinary groups
Skills
- Knowledge of formal project management methodologies and proven skill in effective execution

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
