Summary HOURS: Monday-Friday (hybrid schedule) Additional Hours As Required TRAVEL: Possible 7-10 day per year Job Description When you join the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), you help advance work that supports family physicians and improves health care delivery. The Project Manager, Strategic Initiatives leads high-priority, cross-functional initiatives that align with organizational goals and keep complex work moving forward across teams. This role manages project planning, execution, and progress tracking; builds clear workflows and team cadences; identifies risks and dependencies early; and provides practical recommendations that support timely decisions. The position also serves as the Agile Lead for designated teams, facilitating sprint planning, backlog refinement, standups, reviews, and retrospectives while using Jira and Confluence to maintain visibility, coordination, and momentum. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 2–4 years of project management experience or experience in a closely related role leading cross-functional work. 2+ years of experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously, including planning timelines, tracking deliverables, and managing competing priorities. 1+ year of hands-on experience using project management and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence to organize work, monitor status, and support team collaboration. 1+ year of experience facilitating agile ways of working, including backlog management, sprint planning, standups, reviews, and retrospectives. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders at multiple levels, solve problems proactively, and surface risks with recommended next steps. Preferred Qualifications 1+ year of experience supporting marketing, events, education, or other cross-divisional strategic initiatives. Experience coaching teams, improving team workflows, or supporting change adoption in a matrixed environment. 1+ year of experience with project budgeting, including expense tracking, cost forecasting, or resource planning.
