About the role
The Project Manager, Specialist leads complex, high-risk, or strategic projects or portfolios; provides mentorship and thought leadership. This role works with customers, functional and matrix managers, and staff to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and aligned with company guidelines, processes, and client expectations. The position also contributes as a functional lead to other Project Managers.
Responsibilities
- Oversees one or more complex, high-risk, or strategic projects and/or portfolios, with accountability for end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery.
- Provides leadership to project teams of up to 100 employees concurrently, with annual contract values of up to $50M and complexity up to 300,000 hours.
- Leads the development and execution of project plans, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy, client requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Determines project scope, estimates financial and time commitments, assigns resources, and monitors progress against milestones and deliverables.
- Provides people management, including recruiting, coaching, and performance oversight of highly skilled project leaders and individual contributors.
- Mentors and provides thought leadership to other Project Managers, serving as a functional lead and knowledge resource across the program management discipline.
- Fosters strong customer relationships, manages client expectations, and represents the company in customer-facing and executive-level presentations.
- Partners with customers to analyze issues from the client perspective and recommend solutions that balance scope, budget, and delivery quality.
- Manages project risk by working with schedulers and cross-functional teams to track schedules, deliverables, and milestones; escalates issues with recommended mitigation strategies.
- Implements, maintains, and reports Earned Value (EV) metrics and other delivery metrics into project plans.
- Assists in developing and monitoring project budgets, tracking actual spend against plan, and escalating concerns to senior leadership as required.
- Ensures adherence to internal governance protocols, CMMI standards, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
- Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice, resolve problems, and remove barriers to success.
- Keeps abreast of emerging technologies, market trends, and best practices in program and project management.
- Demonstrates unwavering commitment to customer service, operational excellence, and long-term client success.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Read, understand, and adhere to all corporate policies including policies related to HIPAA and its Privacy and Security Rules.
This position primarily involves working at a desk and using a computer for extended periods of time.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of related experience is required.
- PMP or Six Sigma certification required (can be waived with 10+ years of direct and relevant Project Management experience).
- Experience with healthcare delivery systems, Medicaid/Medicare programs, or government contracts strongly preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, SharePoint, PowerPoint); direct experience using Microsoft Project or similar tools required.
- Prepare and present high-quality executive-level presentations — executive presence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Domain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, or healthcare verticals.
- Call Center, Tier 2/3, and Operations background.
- Ability to manage people, projects, and processes.
- Ability to meet and enforce deadlines, and to take initiative in the progression and completion of projects.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and evaluative skills.
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, facilitation) with strong presentation and facilitation skills, executive presence.
- Strong at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Self-motivated, with ability to balance multiple projects under minimal to no supervision.
- Demonstrates leadership skills and ability to work effectively with different teams and contributors both directly and in a matrix environment.
Experience In Lieu Of Degree
For non-clinical roles, or when not required by the contract specifically, the Company acknowledges that practical, hands-on experience can provide skills and competencies equivalent to formal education. As such, in cases where a Bachelor's degree may be required, the Company will accept a minimum of six (6) years of directly relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree. In instances where the candidate has an Associate's degree, the Company will accept a minimum of three (3) years of directly relevant professional experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree.

Pay
USD $130,960.00 - USD $165,000.00 per year. An applicant’s position placement in the pay range will depend on various considerations, such as years of applicable experience and skill level.
