Project Manager, Sourcing

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Sourcing Project Manager to join our Danfoss Power Solutions Team in Ames.

Responsibilities

• Act as a procurement representative in meetings, key projects, performance improvement and change management
• Lead and manage projects to generate cost savings
• Cook up and coordinate new product development projects assuring early involvement of our suppliers
• Build relationships with internal key stakeholders to establish best sourcing solutions at both the regional and global level
• Prepare and run ideation workshops with suppliers and internally to build a pipeline of cost savings
• Participate in re-design projects and ensure implementation according to IATF 16949 requirements (Change Control, PPAP, etc.)
• Identify, visualize, and mitigate potential risks
• Work closely with global category managers and project managers to initiate, design and execute projects while meeting quality and cost goals

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance, supply chain, or other relevant area
• Minimum of 5 years in procurement / sourcing experience
• Experience demonstrating a solid track record of meeting aggressive objectives
• Able to work effectively in a high quality, deadline driven environment
• Broad knowledge of the procurement function as well as a high degree of knowledge of cost drivers, market dynamics, and supplier relationships in driving cost reductions
• Experience with Strategic Sourcing of Castings & Machining, aluminum and Turned parts categories
• Experience in Negotiation, Supplier Evaluation, Commercial Contract Understanding, Risk Mitigation, Commodity Market
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a team
• Global mindset and excellent communication skills to efficiently communicate across all levels in the organization
• Good time management and project management skills to organize and plan effectively in developing effective systems and processes
