Responsibilities
- Lead the project team and take ownership of the entire project lifecycle, ensuring successful completion from inception to final closeout.
- Conduct weekly meetings and maintain communication with the project team, including internal teams and external subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with QA/QC standards, project schedules, and financial management.
- Provide project updates and reporting to Practice Manager or Practice Leader, keeping them informed of project progress, challenges, and opportunities.
- Manage projects to a minimum of 95% completion in areas where you have identified competency.
- Draft project proposals and set budgets, collaborating with the project team to ensure accuracy and alignment with client requirements.
- Oversee project accounting, including invoicing, budget tracking, and updating project management systems like Ajera.
- Lead and assist in staff management, providing guidance, coaching, and motivation to team members.
- Ensure that plans and projects are completed in accordance with company standards and industry best practices.
- Begin to manage client relationships and work collaboratively with Client Managers to meet client needs and expectations.
- Actively participate in engineering associations, serving on committees, and engaging in networking activities to enhance professional development and industry knowledge.
- Develop work plans for projects, including internal milestones and resource allocation.
- Possess strong presentation skills and the ability to coach and motivate team members.
- Be viewed as a leader in the technical aspect of the practice area, demonstrating a high level of competency in project management, professional development, client service, and leadership.
- Be selected for project assignments by Practice Manager or Practice Leader with concurrence from Client Manager for specific projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering, with a track record in project management.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in project financial management and budgeting.
- Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
