Project Manager Scientist

About the Role

Tetra Tech is adding a Project Manager/Scientist to our Environmental Science team based in Houston, TX. This role will utilize broad facets of geology, hydrogeology, and environmental science to complete a wide range of projects, including environmental support for oil and gas exploration and production, midstream (pipeline) clients, and environmental investigations for commercial clients, such as Phase I and II environmental site assessments. The position may also involve cross-discipline management of permitting projects, requiring expertise in geology, hydrogeology, and regulatory frameworks within Texas and New Mexico, as well as detailed knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations.

Preference will be given to applicants with strong experience in the Permian and Delaware Basins and/or commercial experience. The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of applicable experience. Additional certifications or the ability to obtain them (e.g., P.G. in Texas or a neighboring state, OSHA HAZWOPER, CPESC) are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage environmental, environmental engineering, and oil and gas projects, ensuring they meet client deadlines and stay within budget.
• Oversee multiple projects simultaneously and manage staff to accomplish client needs.
• Develop marketing responsibilities with existing and prospective clients as a seller-doer.
• Communicate clearly internally within Tetra Tech and externally with clients and regulatory agencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, or a related scientific field.
• At least three years of related experience, with a preference for four or more years.
• Experience providing strong technical support for engineering and environmental projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 HAZWOPER training (desired but not required).
• Ability to obtain Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist licensure; Tetra Tech will support the pursuit of licensure if currently unlicensed.
