About the role
AECOM is seeking a Project Manager to support major rail and transit capital programs in the Bay Area, including direct engagement on projects for Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART).
Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of major rail/transit project assignments within large capital programs.
- Cookordination and management of multidisciplinary teams to meet project scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
- Oversee project processes and execution plans, ensuring smooth coordination among technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Facilitate internal and external meetings, workshops, and stakeholder communications.
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with BART and other partner agencies.
- Support reviews of project deliverables to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with program objectives.
- Provide oversight of consultant and contractor activities and help resolve project challenges.
- Manage staff assignments, team workflows, and task organization for rail/transit contracts.
- Support proposal development and pursuit planning for rail/transit professional services.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level staff to support their professional growth and effective project execution.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with contractors, consultants, and technical teams to ensure well-coordinated project outcomes.
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree plus 6 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of education and experience.
- Prior experience working on BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) projects is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, planning, project management, business, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in project leadership, team coordination, client service, and program support for large, complex transportation/transit initiatives.
- Experience working with public agencies and navigating formal project delivery processes.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and client-facing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to organize complex workflows and adapt to changing priorities.
- Experience tracking budgets, schedules, and project performance metrics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to support resolution of delivery challenges.
- Ability to provide quality oversight across project management or program management tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Primavera P6, and standard collaboration tools.

The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $120000 to $200000 per year.
