Project Manager – PromiseTeach (Volunteer)
About the role
Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City–based nonprofit serving children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability through mentorship, literacy, social‑emotional learning, creative expression, and other programs delivered in shelters, schools, and community spaces. PromiseTeach is MAP’s organizational learning, professional development, and knowledge‑sharing department within PromiseRise. It creates workshops, professional‑development sessions, learning series, demonstrations, discussions, and shared resources that turn the diverse expertise across MAP into collective learning opportunities. The Project Manager – PromiseTeach (Volunteer) works closely with the Director of PromiseTeach, facilitators, subject‑matter experts, and teams across MAP to move learning initiatives from idea to execution, coordinating workshops, learning series, professional‑development initiatives, internal trainings, guest sessions, and other PromiseTeach projects.

- Develop and maintain clear project trackers and dashboards that show what is planned, in development, ready, delayed, needs a decision, ownership, and risks.
- Identify risks and dependencies that could affect timelines or learning experiences, such as facilitator availability, missing content, delayed reviews, scheduling conflicts, technology needs, accessibility considerations, cross‑team dependencies, resource limitations, unclear ownership, and communication gaps.
- Help establish a learning‑experience readiness process, confirming facilitator, date/time, audience, learning objectives, session plan, materials, presentation, activities, technology, accessibility considerations, communications, participant resources, feedback mechanism, and follow‑up plan.
- Support coordination of external experts and guest speakers, handling scheduling, expectations, materials, logistics, communications, and follow‑up.
- Maintain consistent communication across projects, sending or coordinating project updates, reminders, deadline follow‑ups, meeting recaps, facilitator communications, status updates, requests for materials, and next steps.
- Ensure documentation and knowledge management of presentations, guides, templates, toolkits, learning materials, facilitator resources, session summaries, recommended resources, feedback, authorized recordings, and project documentation.
- Partner with the Director of PromiseTeach and PromiseMeasure to coordinate learning evaluation and continuous improvement, exploring what participants learned, what was useful, what could be improved, applicability, repeatability, and future changes.
