Project Manager-Operational Excellence
Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody excellence, compassion, teamwork, and purpose to join our Operational Excellence team as a Project Manager. This role supports initiatives that advance quality, efficiency, and patient-centered care across the health system by partnering with clinical and operational leaders.
About the Role
The Project Manager – Operational Excellence applies structured project management and change leadership to deliver measurable, lasting results. Responsibilities include developing project charters, timelines, communication plans, and performance metrics aligned with system priorities. The role facilitates cross-functional workgroups, monitors project milestones, and prepares status updates for leadership and stakeholders. Additionally, the Project Manager leverages Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools to analyze workflows, identify root causes, and design optimized processes while developing change management plans for adoption and sustainability.
Responsibilities

- Develop solutions using sound methodologies, guidelines, and best practices; make decisions and solve problems within project plan parameters.
- Exhibit working knowledge of department and function structure, aligning work with departmental and organizational goals.
- Address problems directly, implement objectives effectively, and produce high-quality deliverables on time using project management principles.
- Coordinate job activities with team members and leaders, sharing best practices and mentoring others as needed.
- Proactively resolve issues, address concerns, identify risks, and improve processes to enhance team success.
- Communicate clearly and professionally in oral and written formats, demonstrating active listening and anticipating business needs.
- Develop training materials, communication assets, and stakeholder updates to support project success.
- Collaborate with analytics teams to define KPIs, dashboards, and reporting structures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare administration, business, engineering, or a related field (required).
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in project management, performance improvement, or healthcare operations (required).
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities (required).
- Proficiency with project management tools and data visualization platforms (required).
- Ability to lead at least 3 projects simultaneously (required).
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent improvement certification (preferred).
- Experience in hospital operations, ambulatory care, or health system performance improvement (preferred).
- PMP, CAPM, or similar project management certification (preferred).
- Familiarity with regulatory standards, quality frameworks, and patient safety principles (preferred).
