Project Manager - Nuclear Projects I, II, III (All Levels)

About the role

Manages projects and programs including planning, scheduling, and control of activities with minimal oversight and direction required. Leads project team of five to ten people. Establishes priorities within projects and maintains a general knowledge of all aspects of the projects within responsibility scope. Directs the activities of project teams. Maintains a broad knowledge base of new technologies and industry trends as related to assigned projects. Monitors project management processes and recommends changes to improve effectiveness and efficiency. Manages project budgets, interacting closely with the finance organization and the project controls group, and coordinates with other project and line managers. Considered proficient in all aspects of project management.

Responsibilities

• Manages small to medium sized capital projects for refueling outages, forced outages, and on-line maintenance as assigned, providing oversight of the staff involved in planning, leading, controlling, and monitoring to ensure that work is implemented safely, with quality, on schedule, and within budget.
• Includes all aspects of project implementation: budget, work package preparation, parts procurement, ALARA planning, industrial and nuclear safety, work prioritization, resource loading, and work execution including resolution of schedule delays and conflicts.
• Develops the budgets, including tracking cost versus budget for assigned projects.
• Assures proper progress and focus through frequent interface with the client, engineers, related parties, and management.
• Develop and manage contracts and interface with vendors.
• Prepare and deliver written and oral communications to various groups including senior management.
• Develop and maintain long range plan strategies associated with assigned projects.
• Support effective implementation of the Self-Assessment and Corrective Action Program.
• Support outage activities including OCC.

Requirements

• Error reduction and human performance improvement methods, and cost-effective work execution methodologies.
• Managing complex projects, on-line work management, or refueling and forced outage related activities.
• Advanced project management techniques at Commercial Nuclear Power Plants or similar facility.

Qualifications

Level I

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, project management, business, or related field from accredited college or university and fourteen years of experience in a technical field; OR
• AA/AS degree and sixteen years of experience in a technical field; OR
• High School Diploma or GED and eighteen years of experience in a technical field.
• An advanced degree in a related field of study or business may be accepted in lieu of two years of experience.
• Project Management certification is required.

Level II

• Advanced degree in a related field of study or business, a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, construction, project management, business, or related field AND twelve (12) years of project management experience in a multifaceted and/or regulated industrial environment; OR
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, construction, project management, business, or related field AND fourteen (14) years of project management experience in a multifaceted and/or regulated industrial environment; OR
• Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and sixteen (16) years' experience in a multifaceted and/or regulated industrial environment; OR
• High School Diploma/GED and eighteen (18) years' experience in a multifaceted and/or regulated industrial environment.
• Five years of the required experience may be in a position within the nuclear industry which includes directing project management activities and/or using project management principles.
• Project Management experience in commercial nuclear power plant system(s) replacements/upgrades.
• Desired: Construction Management Certification, previous RO/SRO license or certification.
• Desired: Extensive work experience in the role of direct supervisor or project manager in the commercial nuclear industry environment, focused on maintenance, operations, or construction.
• Desired: Nuclear plant operator production coordination experience, work management experience in conducting and coordinating plant production work.

Level III

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in project scheduling, with at least 4 years focused on large-scale, mega projects.
• Experience directly related to life cycle construction projects with a strong understanding of the engineering, procurement, and construction processes.
• Proficiency in scheduling software such as Primavera P6 is mandatory.
• Strong understanding of project management processes, EVM (Earned Value Management), and risk management.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex schedules and scenarios clearly.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with personnel at all organizational levels.
• Experience in Nuclear industry, renewable energy or construction is highly desirable.

Pay

• Level I: $45.49 to $81.39/hour
• Level II: $60.39 to $91.89/hour
• Level III: $56.06 to $98.46/hour
