Project Manager - Newport News VA

About the role

Akima Facility Operations (AFO) is looking for a Project Manager to work in Newport News, Virginia. The PM is responsible for ensuring multiple, concurrent, safety related task orders are executed within customer project deadlines and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Execute multiple, concurrent, safety related task orders within customer project deadlines and budgets
• Participate in the Post Award Kick-Off, Partnering, and status update meetings as required by the project schedule and customer needs
• Manage a team of temporarily assigned SMEs or subcontractors as determined by each task order
• Coordinate closely with the Site Safety Professional and the JLABS EH&S personnel
• Manage multiple projects and the cost management and timely execution of work in accordance with job order budgets and agreed upon delivery schedules
• Ensure new work is appropriately scoped, estimated, and a resource loaded schedule prepared for customer review and approval
• Ensure safe execution of the work at multiple locations
• Ensure quality delivery of projects
• Develop and maintain customer relationships and evolve the team’s credibility to attract and capture new work

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience managing projects, 3 years of which must be in a federal contract environment
• Thorough working knowledge of Federal contracts and safety standards is essential
• Preferred BA / BS degree in Safety/Project Management or a PMP certification with equivalent work experience may be considered
• Specialty inspection training and licenses/certs highly desired
• Able to communicate clearly and concisely via email and keep up with steady email exchange with the clients daily
• Able to keep track of status of between 3-5 active projects
• Able to read, speak, understand and write English
• Strong working understanding of MEP interior construction

Pay

The pay range for this position is $160,000-$167,000.00 per year.
