Project Manager - Mission Critical
About the role
Zachry Underground & Utility Services is seeking a Project Manager who will be responsible for the overall success of underground utility construction projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, contract administration, cost control, safety, quality, and client satisfaction. This position works closely with Project Engineers, Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, suppliers, owners, and municipal agencies to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project plans and specifications.
The Project Manager plays a key role in leading project teams, managing financial performance, overseeing project controls, coordinating resources, administering contracts, and maintaining strong relationships with owners and stakeholders for water, sewer, drainage, and utility infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Manage the overall execution of underground utility construction projects
- Develop and monitor project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and cost controls
- Maintain relationships with owners, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Administer contracts and manage project changes, claims, and change orders
- Lead project planning, reporting, and project review activities
- Coordinate project staffing, equipment, materials, and subcontractor resources
- Monitor project safety, quality, production, and financial performance
- Mentor and develop project engineers and field personnel
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, permits, and contractual requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
- 7+ years of experience managing underground utility, heavy civil, or infrastructure construction projects
- Experience with water, sewer, drainage, and utility infrastructure projects preferred
- Strong knowledge of project management, budgeting, scheduling, and contract administration
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and construction management software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Dependable, self-motivated, and results-oriented
- Willingness to travel or relocate for project assignments as needed
