Project Manager (Millwright)

About the role

The Project Manager contributes to the overall success of CR Meyer and its heavy industrial customers throughout the planning, budgeting, construction, and post-construction phases for mechanical/millwright projects. This role ensures all project goals are accomplished within CR Meyer’s safety guidelines, as well as designated quality, schedule, and budget requirements. The Project Manager provides leadership to the project team and collaborates with customers, the Design/Build team, and other stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Use mechanical/millwright experience and construction principles to manage projects from inception to completion.
• Prepare and provide bids to customers using approved design specifications, follow up on proposals, and secure project commitments.
• Establish budgets, timelines, and overall goals for construction project execution.
• Implement the CR Meyer Risk Control Plan, ensuring a safe job site in collaboration with customers, on-site staff, and the Safety Coordinator.
• Obtain all necessary permits and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
• Conduct routine site visits to review budget status, progress, and safety/compliance standards.
• Develop and manage the project team, including subcontractors and vendors, scheduling services and ensuring resource availability.
• Prepare purchase orders, oversee labor hours, expense sheets, invoicing, and receivables management.
• Provide regular updates to customers, project teams, and stakeholders to ensure projects stay within specifications, schedule, and budget.
• Track and communicate productivity factors, documenting them for future reference.
• Use CR Meyer-provided software for project management and documentation.
• Implement QA/QC standards and procedures within CR Meyer guidelines.
• Work with the Design/Build team on “means and methods” engineering controls.
• Oversee the preparation of the final project punch list and ensure proper completion.
• Document completed projects for future reference.
• Wear assigned PPE and observe CR Meyer safety guidelines at all times.
• Complete all reports and paperwork in a timely manner.
• Represent the CR Meyer brand professionally at all times.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Five to ten years of experience in estimating and managing heavy industrial construction projects, with an emphasis on equipment installation/erection.
• Previous experience in the pulp/paper industry and/or large-scale manufacturing preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering (a combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Projects, and Primavera.
• Ability to complete all CR Meyer training and perform job duties within safety guidelines, including First Aid/CPR Certification, OSHA 30, and SafeStart.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and comply with CR Meyer’s Drug & Alcohol Policy and Program.
• Valid driver’s license, insurable driving history, and ability to operate a motor vehicle following traffic laws and safe driving practices.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
• Ability to travel to various project sites within the United States.
• Regular and reliable attendance is required due to project deadlines and demands.
