Project Manager, Mega-Project (Blue Point)

Major Responsibilities

  • Section 1 (Project Development)
    • Manage project scope, provide oversight of Technip, Mechanical Contractor, and other 3rd Party activities and assure accuracy on progress reports.
    • Cook with management interface between Technip, Construction Contractor and CF Leadership.
    • Ensure CF Project team resources are aware of upcoming critical work activities and notify CF management when resources are creating engineering review backlogs.
    • Monitor progress and productivity or responsible 3rd Parties and advise on proper resource allocation.
    • Notify CF management as deficiencies are noticed.
    • Work with 3rd Parties to come up with schedule recovery plans when schedule delays are discovered.
    • Work with 3rd Parties to prepare Change Orders as necessary and facilitate C/O management process.
    • Execute project within approved budgets while controlling project scope.
    • Manage and coordinate with external engineering firms the strategies for packaged equipment such as process modules, vendor skids, or process unit packages.
    • This includes coordination around engineering specifications, procurement, vendor selection (and subsequent management), logistics, construction/installation oversight, and commissioning/startup support.
    • Effectively develop detailed project schedules and project cash flow projections and communicate project status and progress vs schedule and budget targets to management frequently and in writing.
    • Proactively communicate delays and impact with management.
    • Strive to improve skills that add value to both them and the company.
    • Maintain a professional working relationship with all departments.
    • Travel as needed to Houston, Italy, OEM Facilities, or other domestic and international locations as needed.
  • Section 2 (EHS)
    • Incorporate the applicable requirements of the site EHS program into project design scopes and continually evaluate ways to make the site operator more safely.
    • Cook with project team members to ensure the project safely meets the end users’ needs and follow all CF Policies and applicable laws/regulations.
    • Participate in EHS risk assessment for the project as needed.
    • Actively practice environmental, health, and safety activities associated with individualized job functions.
    • Ensure timely execution of Hazop studies for area of responsibility.

Supervisory Relationships

  • Position Reports To: Project Integration Director
  • Subordinate Positions: Technip Houston Office, Mechanical Construction Contractor, other 3rd Parties as required

Incumbent Attributes

  • Education: BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited university or equivalent combination of education and experience. Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Years of experience: 10+ years in some combination of operations or engineering at CF, a comparable chemical manufacturing company or an appropriate engineering and technology services provider. 5 or more years of experience with capital project development and/or execution.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to communicate effectively across multiple cultures and time zones both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability and willingness to work alternative shifts/schedules to support 24 hour/7 days per week operations during critical activities for construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • High degree of personal responsibility for assigned project safety, cost, and schedule performance.
  • Requires minimal management oversight. Self-motivated for work prioritization/execution. Strong management skills required, including team leading, decision making, and prioritizing.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software and familiar with Primavera, ICARUS, or equivalent scheduling and estimating software.
  • Able to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC).
  • Able to prove drug and alcohol free at random or for cause.
