Project Manager - Junior IT

Location: Columbus, OH 43215 | Duration: 12 months (Contract to hire) | Hybrid schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday on-site

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in IT project management, leading projects across IT and business functions
  • Experience managing large, complex projects with internal/external and labor/non-labor cost components
  • Extensive knowledge of project management best practices, including waterfall, agile, and SDLC methodologies and tools
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to coach, develop, and lead diverse project teams
  • Ability to engage and develop relationships with executive sponsors and key stakeholders
  • Experience with project cost management and resource capacity planning
  • Strong business process analysis and mapping skills
  • Experience implementing change management approaches to support projects
  • Indirect management experience, including assisting in development, training, and assignment of work
  • Familiarity with the Energy Industry is a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience demonstrating technical project management and leadership)
  • 4 hours of PMM training prior to assuming role
  • 20 hours of ongoing professional training per year
  • Project management certification (PMP) preferred
  • Agile certification (e.g., PSM, PSPO) is a plus
  • ITIL v3 or v4 certification is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Guide cross-functional cybersecurity teams using Agile and waterfall methodologies to achieve cybersecurity objectives
  • Lead project planning, stakeholder communication, and risk mitigation efforts with a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles
  • Foster collaboration and align project goals with security requirements while delivering secure solutions on time and within budget
  • Manage full project lifecycles using Agile, Waterfall, or Iterative methods
  • Produce deliverables including Project Charters, Solution Design Documents (SDDs), Technical Documentation, Agile readiness checklists, UAT approvals, and deployment plans
  • Create change management artifacts such as stakeholder assessments and adoption strategies
  • Contribute to project management processes, including statement of work development and vendor progress management
  • Manage core project activities: risk, issue, decision, dependency, status reporting, demand, budgeting, forecasting, variance explanations, and capacity management
  • Handle financials, including capital vs. O&M spend forecasting, budgeting, and accruals
  • Facilitate collaboration across multiple functions, departments, and levels
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills, including effective project presentations and communication of technical concepts to non-technical clients
  • Basic knowledge of project management and SDLC tools (ServiceNow, PowerBI, Jira)
  • Experience with Archer tool, policy and standard management, compliance and risk assessments, or issue and exception tracking is a plus
