About the role
ARCO/Murray National Construction is seeking a highly motivated Project Manager to join our Industrial team in Chicago, IL. From day one, you will be given full project management responsibilities on a variety of design/build light- and mid-industrial projects. The ideal candidate is someone looking to build, sell, and grow a team.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all managerial and administrative aspects of projects from preconstruction through project closeout
- Work closely with clients and the design team to develop preliminary concept drawings and project budget
- Participate in proposal meetings with clients to review scope of work, discuss cost-reduction strategies, provide value engineering ideas, and negotiate contracts & fees
- Oversee subcontractor selection and buyout process for all trades and vendors
- Identify and investigate opportunities to procure material and/or specialty equipment directly when advantageous to project budget or schedule
- Work with Project Superintendent to develop and review subcontractor scopes of work/contracts, project schedule, and site logistics plan
- Lead preconstruction planning meetings with designers, subcontractors, and vendors to address constructability, sequencing, and manpower issues
- Lead weekly/bi-weekly OAC meetings on-site once construction begins to review progress and address challenges directly with the client
- Track and manage project performance vs. budget; prepare owner pay applications, cost status, and progress billing reports
- Ensure the construction process is enjoyable for clients, subcontractors, and vendors without sacrificing quality or safety
Requirements
- BS in Engineering or related field
- 2-5 years of construction management or engineering design experience
- Previous experience leading ground-up commercial, light industrial, multi-family, hospitality, or entertainment construction projects is preferred
- Proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Project
