About the role

Plans, directs, and coordinates construction activities for a wide variety of industrial projects. Project types range from Water/Wastewater plants (primarily) to factories/production facilities and data centers across diverse industries and clients. Typical workload involves overseeing one large project or several smaller projects. Ensures project goals are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters, either personally or through subordinate supervisors. Manages Project Engineers, Superintendents, and Foremen, overseeing overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and maintain liaison with prime client to facilitate construction activities.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate policy boundaries.
  • Confer with project staff to outline work plans, assign duties, responsibilities, and authority.
  • Establish work plans and staffing for each project phase; arrange recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure work progresses on schedule and within budget.
  • Review project proposals or plans to determine timeframes, funding limitations, procedures, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Review status reports from project personnel and modify schedules or plans as needed.
  • Prepare project reports for management, clients, or others.
  • Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
  • Coordinate project activities with governmental agencies and subcontractors.
  • Understand and analyze CPM-based project schedules.
  • Monitor and control construction through administrative direction of on-site Superintendent to ensure safe, on-schedule, and within-budget completion.
  • Represent the company in Owner progress meetings.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts and project profit or loss.
  • Lead project team in daily field coordination meetings, weekly block schedule meetings, and monthly safety kickoff meetings.
  • Mentor and assist with career development of other team members.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by supervisors.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Interview and hire staff in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Train, plan, assign, and direct work for project personnel.
  • Appraise performance, reward, and discipline employees.
  • Address complaints and resolve problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • PE credentialing is not required but is a strong plus.
  • 10+ years’ experience and knowledge of construction, design, finance, and management.
