About the role
Provides an intermediate level of full lifecycle management of natural gas construction projects, including requirements gathering, project scoping, stakeholder coordination, design and construction scheduling, construction management, and financial analysis.
Responsibilities
- Supports all aspects of natural gas construction projects from initiation through closure to ensure on-time delivery of service, including monitoring and communicating project deadlines, scope, budget, and costs.
- Develops scope, schedule, and milestones for natural gas construction projects.
- Develops, maintains, and improves design and construction project management policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the development process, including reviewing construction plans, running economic evaluations, drafting contract documents, and negotiating gas installation agreements with developers.
- Creates communication plans for internal and external stakeholders, such as developers, engineers, plumbers, site superintendents, city permitting, permitting consultants, internal engineering staff, operations, resource management, right of way, and legal.
- Monitors and tracks progress of natural gas construction projects and provides status updates to stakeholders.
- Reviews and communicates scheduling data to ensure project consistency and optimization; resolves problems and issues as needed.
- Develops and maintains relationships with applicable internal and external stakeholders.
- Provides information and assistance to stakeholders involved in natural gas construction projects.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in construction management, engineering technology, business administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience (typically, one and a half to two years of relevant experience is equivalent to one year of formal education).
- Two to four years of relevant professional experience (minimum of one year required).
- Knowledge of gas distribution system infrastructure design and materials, construction methods, and project durations.
- Ability to interpret engineering construction plans, mechanical drawings, equipment specifications, and rate schedules.
- Experience with scheduling principles and practices.
- Knowledge or training related to gas-fired equipment design and operation, line extension programs, job order preparation, and pressure request procedures.
- Experience with project management software and office equipment, including computers and applicable software.
- Experience researching and composing reports, studies, cost analyses, contracts, and correspondence.
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting, advising, and communicating effectively.
- Proficiency in math, algebra, and statistics.
- Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.
- Valid driver’s license for travel to meet with customers and attend civic or community functions.
- Mobility to travel in and around office, outdoor environments, and job sites.
- Ability to communicate and exchange information, including conducting oral presentations.

- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
