Project Manager II - Office of the Dean of Clinical Affairs
About the role
The Project Manager II supports the Office of the Dean of Clinical Affairs in advancing operational and strategic initiatives across clinical departments and the health system. This role coordinates cross-functional projects from planning through implementation by developing project plans, tracking milestones and deliverables, facilitating stakeholder engagement, and providing regular status updates. The Project Manager II supports workflow development, project governance, meeting coordination, risk identification, and follow-up activities to ensure initiatives progress efficiently and achieve intended outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates between Clinical Affairs leadership, departmental, and system stakeholders to advance initiatives from planning through implementation, ensuring alignment and timely execution.
- Develops and maintains knowledge of the medical school, its clinical departments, and related organizational units, including their structure, priorities, stakeholders, and operational needs, to support effective project execution and advancement of strategic initiatives.
- Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated project(s) to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frames; makes recommendations for future project phases or projects based on lessons learned.
- Communicates project initiatives and tasks clearly and regularly to team members and committee members. Confers with leadership to outline work plans and assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
- Responds to feedback and status reports from the project team and applicable committees and Directors to revise project tasks and/or timelines as necessary.
- Works with the project team to set meaningful performance objectives; sets specific performance goals and identifies measures for evaluating goal achievement.
- Communicates high expectations; links performance improvement and skill development to relevant personal and business goals; checks for understanding of and commitment to performance and development goals as well as follow-up activities.
- Seeks suggestions for improving performance; collaboratively creates development plans that include activities targeted to specific goals; leverages environmental supports and removes development barriers; advocates for individuals to higher levels of management to create development opportunities.
- Monitors progress toward project milestones to ensure metrics are met in a timely fashion and within prescribed budget, including consultants and outside vendors. Prepares project reports for management, clients, or regulatory agencies as required.
- Remains informed of changing applicable regulations which may affect project objectives, goals, progress, and/or timelines; alters project plan accordingly.
- Facilitates coordination of all elements that support project work (meetings, agendas, deliverables, etc.). Maintains and updates schedules and calendars. Provides logistical support as needed. Establishes work plans and staffing for each phase of the project.
- Maintains effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work responsibilities or environment; adjusts effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures.
- Initiates and maintains strategic relationships with stakeholders inside and outside the health system (e.g., physicians, cross-functional partners, payers, suppliers, community representatives) to advance clinical and business goals.
- Translates strategic priorities into operational reality by aligning communication, accountabilities, resource capabilities, internal processes, and ongoing measurement systems to ensure strategic priorities yield measurable and sustainable results.
- Actively maintains a broad awareness of the internal and external environment by accurately perceiving organizational, political, and social dynamics; proactively navigates the stakeholder environment to avoid unwanted or unproductive reactions and consequences.
- Constantly monitors the organization (inside and out) to stay abreast of political realities (hidden agendas, motives, informal power struggles, etc.) and assesses the views and positions of stakeholders on key issues.
- Performs other related duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years of prior healthcare industry experience, preferably in project management, change management, healthcare delivery redesign or integration, or health policy reform.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within an academic health system, with knowledge of clinical department administration and faculty affairs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Copilot) and project management software.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $86,111.90 - $152,169.32 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
