About the Role
The Project Manager II coordinates all aspects of assigned commercial equipment projects from receipt of order through design, procurement, fabrication, delivery, installation, startup, and warranty expiration. This role establishes schedules and resource requirements, directs project team efforts, and ensures projects are completed on time, on budget, and with zero defects. The Project Manager II may direct up to 20 project team members and third-party fabrication shops as needed.
Responsibilities
- Work with internal and external resources to ensure compliance with applicable environmental and government requirements.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety programs.
- Travel to project sites to resolve problems within the project team’s scope.
- Lead or participate in process improvement efforts related to project execution.
- Report to the Manager of Project Management and direct an ad-hoc team of designers, engineers, procurement, customer service, financial, quality assurance, field service, production, logistics, and shipping & receiving (up to 20 team members).
- Develop project objectives, priorities, budgets, schedules, and resource requirements with minimal supervision.
- Review customer purchase orders/contracts, cost estimates, and specifications to resolve scope, cost, or schedule discrepancies.
- Interface with Sales, Financial, and Customer Service to meet project objectives.
- Communicate project scope to all involved participants and issue Project Initiation Documents.
- Develop detailed project schedules and resource requirement estimates.
- Direct the preparation of engineering drawings and technical specifications; review for scope verification.
- Ensure timely submittals to customers and fabricators.
- Coordinate efforts across departments (engineering, purchasing, quality assurance, field service, production, shipping/receiving) to meet scope and schedule.
- Issue purchase requisitions and complete goods receipt for cost and revenue recognition.
- Establish and maintain project budgets and files; conduct periodic team meetings.
- Direct preparation and issuance of customer documentation (submittals, Operating and Maintenance Manuals).
- Issue invoicing instructions to customer service personnel.
- Direct project close-out, ensuring all acceptance documentation is in place and resolving post-delivery warranty issues.
- Track project costs and ensure proper revenue recognition using SAP Project Systems.
- Provide periodic status reports, cost reports, and financial projections.
- Identify and value asset base at project completion; provide rolling four-month cost and revenue forecasts.
- Ensure fair procurement processes; generate purchase requisitions and approve payments.
- Monitor supplier adherence to specifications, schedule, and scope; travel to vendor/contractor locations to assess progress and expedite work.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university; Engineering degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 3–5 years of project management experience.
- Experience developing engineering proposal packages is preferred.
Schedule
Mondays – Fridays, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours/week). Flexible hours between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
