About the role
The Land Reuse Project Manager I supports the assessment and pipeline preparation of vacant land owned by the Detroit Land Bank Authority (DLBA) for sale and reuse. Key responsibilities include evaluating vacant lots for disposition, triaging property inquiries, and preparing properties for sale.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate DLBA-owned vacant lots for disposition programs, considering various factors.
- Identify vacant land sale priorities and vet property data for sale through DLBA’s vacant land sale programs.
- Review and respond to property inquiries for DLBA-owned vacant lots, triaging inquiries and pipeline issues as needed.
- Maintain and track high volumes of data related to the DLBA’s property inventory and sales pipelines.
- Prepare internal and external reports related to property and pipeline statuses.
- Perform administrative support tasks for departmental projects and activities, including data analysis.
- Work closely with departmental leadership to prepare properties for broader initiatives.
- Collaborate with other DLBA departments, residents, external partners, and vendors to manage pipelines and respond to inquiries.
- Assess vacant lots for listing potential, addressing issues such as clearance of delinquent taxes, demolition liens, and securing necessary approvals.
- Translate overarching guidelines into actionable steps for each property.
- Accurately maintain and update data related to the DLBA’s property inventory and sales pipelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, community development, public administration, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least two (2) years of experience in urban planning, community and economic development, real estate, project management, public administration, or other related professions.
- Real estate background and/or familiarity with zoning codes, a plus.
- Strong multitasking, prioritization, and deadline management skills.
- Close attention to detail and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to understand and carry out contractual agreements.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
- Familiarity with Salesforce software, a plus.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license.
- Ability to travel to multiple sites throughout Detroit using personal vehicle.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing or sitting with lifting up to 30 pounds.
- Pushing/pulling up to 30 pounds over distances of up to 100 feet.
- Using hands to input, view, and retrieve data from computers.
- Traveling to and from various locations throughout the City of Detroit (10% of the time).
