PROJECT MANAGER I, II / SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

About the role

The City of Visalia is recruiting for Project Managers in its Engineering Division. Positions may be filled at any level based on candidate qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Manage scope, schedule, and budget on projects
• Ensure projects make their way through the delivery process from project inception to bidding, and onto construction and close out
• Deliver projects including project management, construction management, engineering design, utility coordination, outside agency coordination, funding management, right-of-way procurement, public outreach and engagement, cost estimation, specification writing, project scheduling, consultant procurement (RFP’s), contractor procurement (RFB’s), reporting, and similar type work
• Coordinate and work collaboratively with other departments and divisions
• Perform City Council staff reports and presentations
• Respond to public inquiries regarding their projects
• Perform plan reviews
• Grant administration

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address project issues and obstacles
• Familiarity with relevant construction practices, industry standards, public contract code, and regulations including permitting and bidding processes
• Municipal engineering experience in areas such as project and construction management, roadway construction, drainage and sewer facilities, pavement maintenance, traffic, street lighting, intelligent transportation systems, ATP and SR2S, landscaping, parks, MUTCD/Watch Manual, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance, and municipal buildings

Qualifications

• CIP Project Manager I: BS degree in related field and 1 year of project management experience
• CIP Project Manager II: BS degree in related field and 3 years of project management experience
• Senior CIP Project Manager: BS degree in related field and 4 years of project management experience

Special Requirements

• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California driver's license by time of appointment
