Project Manager I- DEHE Project Support & Improvement

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and manages projects, incorporating and adhering to project management standards and methodology.
  • Successfully manages the scope of the project, including client priorities and expectations of product and services, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Tracks the day-to-day activities required to ensure projects are completed on time, successfully, and in a manner consistent with organizational goals, departmental policies, and/or the standard terms and conditions of the contract, if applicable.
  • Serves as the lead contact for internal and external customers on assigned projects.
  • Forecasts resource needs and secures skilled staff from resource managers as far in advance as possible.
  • Develops budgets and tracks invoicing as appropriate.
  • Communicates all of the requirements and commitments (both verbally and in writing) for each project with clients, ANTHC staff and management.
  • Participates with other project managers in standards development, educational sessions and process improvement projects.
  • Publishes and maintains status reports, communication plans, risk plans as is consistent with ANMC standards.
  • Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking analysis and project budgets.

Qualifications

  • All Knowledge and proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Knowledge of Project management experience to include the use of standard methodologies on complex projects in a healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of applicable statutes, rules, regulations, ordinances, codes, administrative orders and other operational guidelines and directives.

  • Assesses and prioritizes multiple tasks, projects and demands.
  • Maintains effective working relations with co-workers, contractors, and representatives from other local, state and Federal organizations.
  • Operates a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with individuals with wide array of cultural, political, educational, socio-economic, geographic and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Addresses sensitive issues and situations.
  • Advises leaders of complex organizational units.

Education

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in project management or related field.
  • Progressively responsible professional/exempt work experience in all aspects of the planning, design and implementation of highly complex projects may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

Experience

  • Non-supervisory - Four (4) years professional work experience managing major projects or working in positions using all the aspects of planning, design and implementation of projects.

Additional Requirements

  • Travels frequently within Alaska in small fixed wing aircraft; travels outside Alaska.
