About the role

This is a hybrid work environment opportunity. The initial training period (2–4 weeks) will be fully on-site. After this period, 2–3 days per week on-site will be required, with occasional on-site meetings for team trainings or meetings.

Our Dayton, NJ laboratory is looking for a Project Manager I to join the Client Services team. The Project Manager I is a key member of the Client Services Team, serving as a client advocate and laboratory liaison. This role is responsible for guiding successful, on-time completion of clients' projects from initial contact through final deliverables and invoicing. The Project Manager I will manage a dedicated portfolio of clients with lower complexities and/or annual analytical spend, and will train and delegate tasks to Project Manager Assistants.

Responsibilities

• Act as the main point of contact and client services representative for a dedicated list of clients with lower complexities and/or annual analytical spend.
• Aid the client with all aspects of project setup, including the initial quote, supply order, sample receipt, data reporting, and invoicing.
• Foster collaborative relationships with the client, laboratory operations, and sales team to support long-term, successful relationships.
• Attend staff and client meetings to relay information about past, current, and upcoming projects.
• Act as the client liaison to the laboratory to ensure all aspects of the project are carried out in the best interest of the client and laboratory operations to meet turnaround time (TAT) deadlines.
• Keep all accounts project-managed, up to date, and accurate.
• Monitor project status and provide regular updates through proactive communication to the client, lab operations, and sales team.
• Understand all applicable aspects of the client project, including rationale, regulations (e.g., NPDES, SW-846), and methods employed by the client and laboratory.
• Document and execute client requests including bottle orders, sample tracking, LIMS login, and change orders.
• Review project data and invoicing for accuracy and completeness before sending final reports to the client.
• Participate in offsite and/or virtual client meetings as coordinated with the Sales team.
• Promote a positive working atmosphere and represent SGS in a positive manner inside and outside of the laboratory.
• Perform other duties as assigned to ensure SGS can fulfill its mission of quality, service, and growth.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or equivalent industry experience and 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in sciences and/or customer service (required).
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field and 2 to 3 years of experience as a Project Manager Assistant (preferred).
