Henkels & McCoy, Inc. (H&M) specializes in low voltage cabling for enterprise, data centers, government, and medical facilities in the DC Metro area. This role is based in our Chantilly, VA office.
About the role
The Project Manager (PM) will manage multiple low voltage infrastructure projects, including data center builds. The ideal candidate has project management experience, industry knowledge of RFPs, blueprints, specifications, and contractual language, and proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, and P&L tracking.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project schedules, labor, and material cost budgets to meet project completion deadlines and budgets, potentially managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Manage multiple employees across different projects and identify work-around procedures to maintain crew productivity during delays.
- Communicate regularly with customers, architects, construction managers, and general contractors on contractual, financial, scheduling, technical, and other project-related matters.
- Develop detailed status reports covering financial results, physical progress, productivity, scheduling, and scope changes.
- Direct employees in implementing changes to project scope and prepare written proposals, including material and labor estimates.
- Develop relationships with local vendors and subcontractors and manage their onsite performance to ensure alignment with project scope.
- Monitor projects for P&L margins to meet or exceed estimates and ensure quality, safety, and documentation standards.
- Perform weekly quality and safety observations on each project and initiate disciplinary action if required.
- Work independently on site surveys for estimates, proposal preparation, or quality assurance.
- Provide documentation, reports, and information to operations as directed.
- Initiate and monitor installation standards and technical/supervisory training (OJT) for technicians and junior crew members.
- Pursue ongoing education and certifications, including corporate or specialty courses.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with voice and data infrastructure.
- Experience with communication cabling for technologies such as WiFi, DAS, AV, and data centers (preferred).
- Leadership skills to manage and motivate field personnel.
- Industry-related certifications (e.g., PMP, BICSI) in project management, HR, personnel management, cost accounting, finance, scheduling, or construction management (preferred).

- Ability to work in an office setting and on active construction sites, including standing/walking on uneven ground, climbing ladders, lifting 25+ lbs, and performing manual labor.
