Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of a construction project. Directs and supervises the work of project administration, project superintendents, and engineers to establish operational priorities and maintain effective relationships with owners, subcontractors, etc. This role will be based at one of our project sites generally located in the western United States.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for ensuring the project meets or exceeds its financial objectives, by overseeing and monitoring each stage of the development
  • Coordinates daily/weekly meetings with all the area superintendents and project engineer(s) to develop means and methods, schedule contracting needs and long lead delivery times
  • Manage all field operations and work sequence in conjunction with the Operations VP
  • Review project estimate or plan to determine estimated job cost, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project
  • Oversee and approve the monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections. Also, review, approve and negotiate change orders
  • Anticipate project needs with sufficient lead-time to avoid delay of production
  • Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, work closely with Project Manager and HR team to manage relationship with staff and craft
  • Form and lead an effective project management team, define and delegate management responsibilities and set goals
  • Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties, and other problems that may arise
  • Be an effective leader, communicate with department leads regarding work scopes
  • Ensure project superintendents understand and execute the work as required
  • Ensure safety, quality and production is maintained
  • Responsible for project closeout. Secure loose ends by finishing paperwork, obtaining retainages, supporting supervisors, and expediting claims

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Interviews and hires site workers
  • Approves timecards and requests for time off
  • Prepares work schedules and assignments
  • Communicates and enforces safety procedures and site rules

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
  • Must have a valid, unrestricted Driver’s License
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration (Accounting, Management or Finance), Construction Management or related field. Equivalent experience in a construction-related position will also be considered
  • Must be willing to travel and relocate
  • 5+ years of construction and/or project management experience in heavy civil construction
  • Familiar with technical drawings systems and planning & reporting systems
  • Ability to work with and manage unionized workers or subcontractors

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current first aid/CPR certification a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments
  • Ability to kneel, stoop, crouch, climb or crawl
  • Ability to maintain balance
