Project Manager - Heavy Civil Construction

About the role
This Project Manager role will report to our Operations Manager and be responsible for managing heavy civil jobs ranging from $5M - $75M. The position involves planning, directing, coordinating, and budgeting construction activities, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel. You will participate in the conceptual development of construction projects and oversee project-specific organization, scheduling, and implementation. The role includes managing a wide range of projects including hard bid, CM, and Design-Build. Your initial project assignment will be located in Ardmore, Oklahoma. All Construction Division offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and drug screen. Security clearance may be required based on client requirements and background check results.
This position requires travel to projects throughout the Southern Central states.
Responsibilities
- Manage mid to large-scale projects with moderate to high risk levels with minimal oversight from Construction Operations Manager and Director of Construction.
- Oversee multiple construction projects in varying stages of completion.
- Coordinate with Construction Operations Manager to ensure project performance aligns with goals.
- Implement Corporate Safety Policy on all assigned projects.
- Mentor and guide Assistant Project Managers, Project Assistants, and Project Engineers.
- Generate Work Plans for all assigned projects.
- Schedule projects in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.
- Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites.
- Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations.
- Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients.
- Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Obtain all necessary permits and licenses; coordinate with environmental and regulatory staff for compliance.
- Fill in for Project Superintendents as necessary to direct and supervise workers.
- Study job specifications to determine general requirements and appropriate construction methods.
- Requisition supplies and materials to complete construction projects.
- Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress, and cost tracking reports.
- Develop and implement quality control programs.
- Take actions to deal with delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites.
- Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
- Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.
- Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites to ensure proper procedures are followed.
- Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness using computers.
- Lead medium to large-scale Design-Build projects.
- Review owner contracts and project estimates at different design phases (30%, 60%, etc.).
- Provide constructability review and coordinate with design engineers.
- Create and prepare outgoing correspondence to clients, subcontractors, and other outside entities, ensuring accuracy and professionalism.
- Review, edit, and ensure all documents submitted to clients are in McMillen format.
- Assist in preparation of Owner Payment Applications.
- Provide Project Closeout Documents to facilitate substantial completion and track projects throughout the warranty period.
- Provide final closeout documentation upon completion of warranty periods.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or minimum of 5 years comparable experience.
- Minimum 5 - 8 years of experience with heavy civil design-build projects managing all aspects from design, approvals, procurement, construction, and implementation.
- Regular, predictable attendance is required.
- Ability to work effectively with others.

- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Pay
Pay Range: $130,000 - $160,000 (DOE)
