Project Manager - Heavy Civil Construction

About the role
This Project Manager role will report to our Operations Manager and be responsible for managing heavy civil jobs ranging from $5M - $75M. The position involves planning, directing, coordinating, and budgeting construction and maintenance activities, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel. Responsibilities include conceptual development, project organization, scheduling, and implementation across hard bid, CM, and Design-Build projects. The role requires travel to projects throughout Southern Central states, with the initial assignment located in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Security clearance may be required based on background check results.
Responsibilities
- Manage mid to large-scale projects with moderate to high risk levels with minimal oversight.
- Oversee multiple construction projects in varying stages of completion.
- Coordinate with the Construction Operations Manager to ensure project performance aligns with goals.
- Implement Corporate Safety Policy on all assigned projects.
- Mentor Assistant Project Managers, Project Assistants, and Project Engineers.
- Generate Work Plans for all assigned projects.
- Schedule projects in logical steps and budget time to meet deadlines.
- Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites.
- Inspect and review projects for compliance with building and safety codes.
- Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to staff, workers, and clients.
- Prepare and negotiate contracts with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Obtain necessary permits and licenses, ensuring compliance before project mobilization.
- Fill in for Project Superintendents to direct and supervise workers as needed.
- Study job specifications to determine general requirements and appropriate construction methods.
- Requisition supplies and materials for project completion.
- Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress, and cost tracking reports.
- Develop and implement quality control programs.
- Address delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites.
- Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to resolve issues.
- Plan and direct activities for construction and maintenance of structures and facilities.
- Investigate damage, accidents, or delays to ensure proper procedures are followed.
- Evaluate construction methods for cost-effectiveness using computers.
- Lead medium to large-scale Design-Build projects.
- Review owner contracts and project estimates at different design phases (30%, 60%, etc.).
- Provide constructability reviews and coordinate with design engineers.
- Create and prepare professional correspondence to clients, subcontractors, and outside entities.
- Review, edit, and ensure documents submitted to clients follow McMillen format.
- Assist in preparation of Owner Payment Applications.
- Provide Project Closeout Documents for substantial completion and warranty periods.
- Track projects throughout the warranty period and provide final closeout documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or minimum of 5 years comparable experience.
- Minimum 5 - 8 years of experience with heavy civil design-build projects, managing all aspects from design to implementation.
- Regular, predictable attendance and ability to work effectively with others.

Pay
Pay Range: $130,000 - $160,000 (DOE)
