Duties/Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the environmental remediation group in the mid-Atlantic/northeast to work collaboratively with a passionate team supporting a wide variety of clients with numerous challenging projects.
  • Understand client needs and be able to develop strong client relationships.
  • Plan and execute projects to meet technical, quality, budgetary and scheduling requirements.
  • Plan and direct environmental field observation and testing programs; including laboratory test selection and data evaluation.
  • Lead development of technical approaches, specifically as related to preparing design-phase documents (design reports, design drawings, technical specifications), obtaining project permits, and implementing remedial construction.
  • Manage and develop investigation work plans, remedial alternative assessments and cost analyses, remedial action work plans, and construction cost estimates.
  • Manage and implement treatability tests, pilot tests, pre-design investigations.
  • Administer and/or manage construction-phase engineering support including submittals review, contractor pay requisitions, change orders, requests for information.
  • Understand and adhere to client objectives for remedy implementation and perform designs consistent with regulatory requirements.
  • Be effective in assigning and managing work to others.
  • Demonstrate strong coaching and mentoring skills to junior level staff.
  • Provide clear verbal and written communications including client deliverables.
  • Develop a working understanding of H&A’s other consulting practice areas and actively support marketing other additional services to existing clients.

Skills/Experience

  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science in civil/environmental engineering, geology or environmental science; Master of Science degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in environmental regulations, experience on NJDEP regulated remediation projects that require land use permitting, due diligence, environmental investigation, remediation design and compliance, along with environmental construction support experience.
  • Experience with the implementation of Preliminary Assessments, Site/Remedial Investigations and Remedial Actions for remediation of NJ contaminated sites.
  • Experience with the preparation of design plans, permit applications and technical specifications for remediation of NJ contaminated sites, including earthwork and site/civil aspects of remedial construction projects; design/build experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to technical details.
  • Managing all phases of environmental projects including delegation of work, schedule, cost, quality and client relationship.
  • Strong computer literacy skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Blue Beam preferred.
  • GIS and/or CAD/Civil3D proficiency a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates, and strong commitment to safety.
