About the role
The Project Manager is responsible for project management, leadership, profitability, and client management for a design team. This is a leadership position that includes mentoring and developing staff while maintaining presence and leadership throughout the regions where we do business through involvement in civic, professional, and business organizations.
Responsibilities
- Project Management in the areas of Land Development Plan Design, Stormwater Management Design, Water and Sanitary Sewer Design, and Erosion and Sedimentation Control Design
- Manage team assignments and balance workload in a deadline-driven environment
- Provide vision and guidance to the firm in the area of Project Management
- Drive growth of the company’s business model and promote business development
- Quality Control
- Permitting of federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
- Provide technical assistance to staff and clients in resolving problems
- Prepare presentations to various land use related boards and jurisdictional agencies
- Build and manage client relationships, program and project management, and promote strategic alliances
- Prepare proposals
- Guide, manage, and support the delivery of projects and programs to ensure quality, on-schedule, and on-budget completion
- Financial management of projects including accounts receivable
- Lead projects through hands-on project management and actively manage the project plan, deliverables, dependencies, and outcome of assigned projects
- Client management and overall satisfaction
- Mentor and develop staff
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- 7+ years’ experience in Civil Site Engineering (residential, institutional, industrial, and/or commercial site design and permitting experience)
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration required (or ability to obtain PE license within 1 year of employment)
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to maintain and operate personal and/or company vehicle
Skills
- Familiar with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Knowledge of Truck and Turning & Modeling software
- In-depth knowledge of the planning and zoning processes
- Knowledge of Hydrologic and Hydraulic Stormwater Design
- Proficient in design and drafting capabilities
- Proficient grading and drainage design skills
- Utility design experience including pump station and force mains
- Experience dealing with regulatory agencies and review professionals
- Proficient in the use of available mapping websites for due diligence and site investigation purposes
- Construction oversight experience for site work
- Proficient in the use of the following design tools for site engineering:
- AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Hydrology Software (e.g., ICPR and Cascade)
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project
- Proficient in the use of Bluebeam Revu and/or Adobe to prepare design document markups
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Independent and critical thinking abilities
- Superior organizational and delegation ability
- Ability to work and lead in a team-oriented environment with a focus on staff development and mentoring
- Client management experience
