About the Role
The Project Manager is responsible for project management, leadership, profitability, and client management for a design team. This leadership position includes mentoring and developing staff while maintaining a presence and leadership throughout the regions where the company operates through involvement in civic, professional, and business organizations.
Responsibilities
- Project management in the areas of Land Development Plan Design, Stormwater Management Design, Water and Sanitary Sewer Design, and Erosion and Sedimentation Control Design
- Manage team assignments and balance workload in a deadline-driven environment
- Provide vision and guidance to the firm in project management and drive growth of the company’s business model
- Promote business development and quality control
- Handle permitting for federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
- Provide technical assistance to staff and clients in resolving problems
- Prepare presentations to various land use-related boards and jurisdictional agencies
- Build and manage client relationships, program, and project management
- Promote and sell strategic alliances
- Prepare proposals and guide, manage, and support project delivery to ensure quality, on-schedule, and on-budget completion
- Financial management of projects, including accounts receivable
- Lead projects through hands-on project management and actively manage project plans, deliverables, dependencies, and outcomes
- Ensure client management and overall satisfaction
- Mentor and develop staff
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- 7+ years’ experience in Civil Site Engineering (residential, institutional, industrial, and/or commercial site design and permitting experience)
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration required (or ability to obtain PE license within 1 year of employment)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain and operate a personal and/or company vehicle
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Knowledge of Truck and Turning & Modeling software
- In-depth knowledge of planning and zoning processes
- Knowledge of Hydrologic and Hydraulic Stormwater Design
- Proficient in design and drafting capabilities, grading, and drainage design skills
- Utility design experience, including pump stations and force mains
- Experience dealing with regulatory agencies and review professionals
- Proficient in the use of available mapping websites for due diligence and site investigation
- Construction oversight experience for site work
Skills
- Proficient in the use of the following design tools for site engineering:
- AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Hydrology Software (e.g., ICPR and Cascade)
- Proficient in Microsoft Software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project
- Proficient in Bluebeam Revu and/or Adobe for preparing design document markups
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Independent and critical thinking abilities
- Superior organizational and delegation ability
- Ability to work and lead in a team-oriented environment with a focus on staff development and mentoring
- Client management experience
