Project Manager - District Energy

About the Role

Join our Energy and Power business unit as a Project Manager, where we leverage our solutions across various markets to foster a more connected and sustainable world, both environmentally and socially. In this role, you’ll deploy your project management skills to develop innovative solutions that solve our clients’ challenging energy needs. You will collaborate across engineering disciplines to support a diverse international multi-sector client group, managing internal Jacobs teams as well as external subconsultants and contractors.

The projects you will be assigned may include power generation, thermal generation, microgrids, energy storage, hydrogen production, geothermal power, carbon capture, electric substations, and many other energy systems and technologies. This position provides the opportunity to engage with clients, develop holistic concept-level plans, and take these through detailed design to full execution, delivering a true “end-to-end” lifecycle service from needs assessment and planning to startup and commissioning.

We seek candidates with a broad understanding of the engineering and construction industry as well as the energy market. Prior experience in consulting, design management, project management, Owner’s Engineer roles, contract management, advisory roles (technical advisor/due diligence), or strategic project development is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and schedules to ensure all project phases are completed on time.
• Oversee project budgets, ensuring costs are controlled and projects are completed within financial constraints.
• Lead and coordinate engineering teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among team members.
• Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress and addressing concerns.
• Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Ensure all project deliverables meet required quality standards and specifications.
• Manage resource allocation to optimize project efficiency.
• Ensure project activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and safety guidelines, with a special focus on keeping people safe.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including progress reports, cost analyses, and final project reports.
• Collaborate with technical leadership, client account managers, and sales professionals on pursuits of strategic importance to the firm.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of demonstrated professional experience as a Project Engineer or Project Manager responsible for execution of District Energy or similar market-related projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions and pivot quickly to meet client business objectives.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present project status clearly and concisely to various stakeholders.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation and reporting.
• Experience working for Engineering, Design Build, or Construction/EPC firms.
• Knowledge of risk management and cost control techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

• Project Management Professional Certification (PMP).
• 10+ years of demonstrated professional experience as a Project Manager responsible for execution of District Energy or similar market-related projects.
• Experience with Thermal Energy Networks (TENs).
• Experience with microgrids and electrical distribution.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $128,200.00 to $168,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Jacobs empowers employees with a hybrid working policy, allowing them to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations to deliver their best work.
