HEPCO Inc. is seeking a Project Manager to support NYSERDA's Clean Energy Siting Team by expanding its regional impact and geographic coverage. This role provides educational, engagement, and technical support to communities that are hosting or navigating clean energy project development.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a local government and stakeholder liaison, handling written/verbal correspondence, meetings, calls, presentations, and drafting memos or guidance documents
- Support development of public-facing tools, resources, and trainings on clean energy topics
- Assist in planning and executing public-facing clean energy engagement opportunities
- Provide objective, project-agnostic technical support to maximize community participation and education around clean energy
- Collaborate on cross-team or cross-agency projects as needed
- Perform other duties that support the Clean Energy Siting Team's goals
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science/policy, regional or urban planning, environmental engineering, public policy, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in a public-facing role related to planning/zoning, sustainability, clean energy, or a related field
- Must have a car and be willing to travel to town meetings and events
- Contractors must supply their own computer, cell phone, and reliable high-speed internet access
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in relevant discipline
- 5+ years of relevant experience, including project management/oversight
Skills
- Strong work ethic; able to work both independently and collaboratively
- Excellent organizational and planning skills to manage multiple municipal engagements concurrently
- Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with local governments and stakeholders
- Working knowledge of solar, wind, or energy storage technologies
- Familiarity with local government roles in clean energy development (zoning, SEQR, permitting pathways)
- Comfort with public speaking and leading virtual/in-person engagements
Tools & Systems Used
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Virtual meeting platforms (Teams, Zoom, Webex)
- CRM platforms, including Salesforce
- Possibly geospatial tools (ESRI, QGIS)

Pay
$45.00 - $53.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
Schedule
- 40 hours/week (Full-Time)
- Engagement Duration: 3 years
- Start Date: November 1, 2026
- Travel: Required—must have a personal vehicle and be able to travel to municipal meetings, conferences, and other events as needed
