This role is ideal for an experienced CADD professional who combines exceptional technical expertise with strong leadership skills and a passion for developing high-performing design production teams. Working within our Aviation practice, you will oversee teams of CADD designers and technicians while establishing design production standards, coordinating multidisciplinary models, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality design documentation for major airport programs. This is an outstanding opportunity for a design technology leader looking to advance into a project management role while remaining closely connected to technical delivery and digital innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage teams of CADD designers, BIM specialists, and drafting technicians supporting aviation projects.
  • Develop production plans, staffing strategies, and resource allocations to support multiple concurrent projects.
  • Oversee the preparation of high-quality design drawings, construction documents, and digital models throughout all phases of project delivery.
  • Establish and maintain CADD, BIM, and digital design standards across project teams.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design production involving architecture, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, utilities, and airside infrastructure.
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and compliance with client standards, TYLin procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Manage model coordination, drawing integration, clash resolution, and document control activities.
  • Support Design Managers and Project Managers in monitoring project schedules, deliverables, and production milestones.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows through automation, standardization, and digital innovation.
  • Mentor and develop junior designers and CADD technicians through technical coaching and quality reviews.
  • Collaborate with IT and Digital Practice teams to implement new software, workflows, and design technologies.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Architecture, Drafting, Construction Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 5–10 years of progressively responsible experience in CADD, BIM, or digital design management, preferably within aviation, transportation, or large infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading CADD production teams on complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in: AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD), and Autodesk Navisworks.
  • Strong understanding of BIM workflows, digital coordination, and multidisciplinary design integration.
  • Experience managing project production schedules, quality assurance, and technical coordination.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Airport or transportation infrastructure project experience.
  • Experience supporting large airport terminal, landside, or airside development programs.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bentley ProjectWise, or other common document management environments.
  • Experience with clash detection, model federation, and digital design review processes.
  • Knowledge of scripting or automation tools (Dynamo, AutoLISP, Python, PowerShell, or similar) is considered an asset.
  • Experience implementing CAD/BIM standards and digital quality management systems.

Technical Expertise

The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced proficiency in digital design platforms, including: AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), Navisworks, Bluebeam Revu, ProjectWise, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), and Microsoft Office Suite. You are recognized as a technical resource who can troubleshoot complex production issues, optimize workflows, and support project teams in delivering coordinated, high-quality design documentation.

Ideal Candidate

You are an experienced CADD leader who enjoys building high-performing technical teams and improving the way design projects are delivered. You have a deep understanding of digital design production and thrive in an environment where collaboration, precision, and continuous improvement are essential. You are equally comfortable mentoring designers, coordinating with project managers, resolving technical challenges, and implementing production standards that improve quality and efficiency.
