About the role

Trueline's client, an established custom home builder known for high-quality residential construction and a team‑oriented culture, is seeking a Project Manager – Custom Home Construction to join their team in the Madison, WI area. This position offers an experienced residential construction professional the opportunity to take ownership of high‑end custom home projects, build strong relationships with homeowners and trade partners, and see exceptional homes through from contract to completion.

Responsibilities

• Lead custom residential projects from pre‑construction and permitting through final walkthrough and warranty.
• Build and manage project schedules, coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, inspections, selections, and key milestones.
• Keep homeowners informed throughout the construction process with consistent communication and clear expectations.
• Coordinate with architects, designers, engineers, trade partners, and internal teams to address issues before they impact the project.
• Regularly visit jobsites to monitor progress, craftsmanship, safety, organization, and schedule.
• Manage multiple active projects while maintaining attention to budget, quality, and client experience.
• Drive projects toward a clean, complete turnover with minimal outstanding punch‑list items.
• Maintain accurate project information and schedules using Buildertrend or similar construction management software.

Must‑Haves

• 5+ years of relevant residential construction experience, ideally within custom home building or high‑end remodeling.
• Demonstrated experience managing residential construction projects and coordinating multiple trades.
• Strong understanding of residential construction methods, sequencing, building codes, and jobsite safety.
• Ability to read plans, anticipate construction challenges, and work collaboratively to find practical solutions.
• Excellent organization and follow‑through across multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to confidently work directly with homeowners.
• A quality‑focused mindset and high standards for finished work.

Nice‑to‑Haves

• Direct experience managing luxury or highly customized residential projects.
• Experience with Buildertrend or comparable construction management software.
• Established knowledge of the Madison‑area residential construction market and trade community.
• Experience working closely with architects, interior designers, and engineers on complex residential projects.

Pay

Competitive base salary in the $95,000–$130,000 range, depending on experience, plus performance‑based bonus opportunity.
