Project Manager
About the role
The Project Manager's involvement begins in the sales cycle, including estimating, soliciting subcontractor proposals, assisting in presentations, reviewing proposed contracts, project scheduling, and systems design. As the project transitions to implementation, the PM takes increasing responsibility for managing Toyota Automated Logistics risk from technical, contractual, cash flow, and organizational perspectives. Responsibilities include estimating, selecting subcontractors, defining project timelines, reviewing contracts, and systems design. The Project Manager remains involved throughout installation, go-live, and acceptance, traveling to customer sites to ensure satisfaction while maintaining budget and timeline.
Responsibilities
- Work with the assigned team to review proposals, contracts, and new orders for accuracy and commercial/technical issues.
- Estimate and direct internal resources necessary to successfully complete the project.
- Maintain positive cash flow on all projects; collaborate with accounts and business support to follow up on past-due invoices.
- Publish weekly Project Logs.
- Monitor budget margin and current forecast margin within +/- 1% for all major projects (typically 2-3 at a time).
- Ensure content, format, and timeliness of all project correspondence and submittals, including drawings, letters, equipment/controls documentation, spare parts lists, and purchase orders.
- Manage the project schedule using electronic Gantt charts for installed projects.
- Support Site Supervisors when assistance is needed in the field.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s of Engineering required or Bachelor’s Degree with equivalent technical experience.
- MS, MBA, or PMP certification a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in project management.
- Experience in material handling, robotics, manufacturing, or packaging preferred.
- Experience and/or education in basic financials, including project ROI, discounted cash flows, simple/compound interest, and depreciation.
- Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel) required; MS Project or similar experience required.
- AutoCAD experience preferred.
- Must be able to work long-term without sponsorship.
- Adhere to information security policies, protect confidential data, complete required training, and report suspected security incidents.
Travel Requirements
80% daily travel to customer sites with occasional overnight travel (expenses paid by Toyota Automated Logistics).
