About the Role

The Project Manager oversees overall profit at completion, delegates tasks, manages client relations, and handles general project management for assigned jobs.

Responsibilities

  • Understand basic revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections to make informed decisions.
  • Understand the company’s pricing model and billing procedures.
  • Create and execute project work plans, revising as needed to meet changing requirements.
  • Follow up with clients on unpaid invoices when necessary.
  • Accurately forecast and analyze project profitability, margins, and utilization.
  • Identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities.
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and scopes.
  • Review deliverables prepared by the team before client submission.
  • Effectively apply company methodology and enforce project standards.
  • Prepare for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures.
  • Minimize exposure and risk on projects.
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Track and report team hours and expenses weekly.
  • Manage project budgets and ensure timely, accurate invoicing while monitoring receivables.
  • Accurately forecast and analyze revenue and bill rates.
  • Ensure project legal documents are completed and signed.
  • Lead proposal efforts, including project scoping and level-of-effort (LOE) assessments.
  • Identify business development and “add-on” sales opportunities related to projects.
  • Effectively convey the company’s message in written and business development discussions.
  • Keep the project team informed of organizational changes and corporate news.
  • Facilitate effective team and client meetings.
  • Hold regular status meetings with the project team.
  • Deliver engaging, informative, and well-organized presentations.
  • Resolve or escalate issues in a timely manner.
  • Communicate difficult or sensitive information tactfully.
  • Maintain awareness of new and emerging technologies and their potential applications.
  • Challenge others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model and mentor.
  • Align project tasks with team members’ career interests to support their development.
  • Inspire coworkers to attain goals and pursue excellence.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and suggest constructive changes.
  • Manage the process of innovative change effectively.
  • Stay updated on emerging industry practices.

  • Communicate effectively to identify client needs and evaluate business solutions.
  • Seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
  • Conduct effective performance evaluations and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Help team members execute career development plans.
  • Seek and participate in development opportunities beyond company requirements.
  • Train other team members and clients through formal and informal programs.
  • Encourage junior team members to take responsibility for their development.
  • Challenge team members to progress toward their professional goals.
  • Lead internal teams or task forces.
  • Suggest areas for improvement in internal processes and propose solutions.
  • Approve team members’ time and expense reports conscientiously and timely.
  • Review status reports to address issues as needed.
  • Comply with and help enforce standard policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of relevant construction management experience preferred.
  • Post-college field experience in estimating, purchasing, submittal review, CAD, and cost control.
  • Experience in concrete, excavation, underground, and exposed piping.
  • Preference for experience in heavy civil or mechanical projects.
  • Mechanically minded problem solver with excellent math aptitude.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Professional with effective communication skills to keep people on task.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to manage people and tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
