Project Manager

About the role

The Project Manager will manage the design and delivery of large projects while maintaining relationships with current and future clients. This hands-on role requires problem-solving skills and the ability to foster effective working relationships among colleagues, associates, clients, and officials. The position offers flexibility in working from home or a Stantec US office and may require some domestic and possibly international travel.

Responsibilities

• Work in a manner that protects the health and safety of Stantec employees, clients, and the public by following company health, safety, and security guidelines.
• Maintain and enhance Stantec’s reputation with clients, approval agencies, and industry professionals as an outstanding service provider.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards; lead multi-disciplinary teams on proposals, planning studies, feasibility through final designs, and construction services for Power Delivery projects.
• Identify appropriate resources and skill sets to achieve project objectives; manage contract terms, track and manage costs and schedules, and implement measures to stay on schedule and within budget.
• Lead by example with active support of internal policies and practices, including risk management, project management, and quality management.
• Grow internal and external networks to enhance Stantec’s reputation and identify additional talent to join the team.
• Provide mentoring and training for future leaders, including development of succession plans for key positions.
• Develop client relationships to facilitate project activities.
• Promote collaboration and teamwork across business lines and geographies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in project management, preferably for Power Delivery projects.
• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or sciences.
• Strong project management skills, with experience organizing, planning, and executing projects from pursuit through closeout involving internal personnel, subconsultants, contractors, and vendors.
• Demonstrated successful experience in client service management and leadership, including defining direction for teams, projects, and offices; strategy development; change management; and corporate stewardship.
• Demonstrated successful experience in decision-making, including sound, defensible business decisions and solving complex problems.
• Proficiency in problem-solving and risk management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to other offices and project sites.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
