Project Manager

Slayden Constructors Inc. (SCI), a wholly owned subsidiary of MWH Constructors, Inc., is seeking experienced Project Managers to support and lead critical water and wastewater treatment plant construction projects for both municipal and industrial clients based out of Estacada, OR. Projects may involve integrated project delivery such as CM-at-Risk or Design-Build, or traditional Design-Bid-Build, and range in size from $20-$200 million.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and maintain liaison with prime client and A/E contacts to facilitate preconstruction and construction activities.
• Monitor and control construction through administrative direction of on-site construction managers and superintendents to ensure the project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
• Represent the company in project meetings, assist in labor negotiations and strategy meetings, etc.
• Manage financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, etc.) to protect the company’s interest while maintaining a good relationship with the client.
• Work jointly with other members of the project team to complete the Slayden Constructors Management Administration Plan prior to initiating any fieldwork, using provided planning guidelines and tools.
• Ensure direct reporting employees follow safe work practices and company guidelines for planning and executing work safely.
• Work in a manner to ensure personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines.
• Provide leadership and technical support to project engineers, field engineers, and superintendents.
• Procure subcontractors and materials through Purchase Agreements and Subcontracts.
• Support Change Management, Cost Estimating, revenue and Cost Forecasting, and Scheduling.
• Assume additional responsibilities as directed by the Operations Director.

Requirements

• 4-year engineering/construction management degree or equivalent experience and training/education.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of construction, design, finance, and management experience/knowledge on heavy civil or industrial construction projects.
• 3-5 years of experience on water or wastewater plant projects.
• Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
• Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, and their impact on project activities.
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.).
• Strong business orientation and proven experience and judgment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Safety-oriented with OSHA training.
• Special experience and expertise with water/wastewater treatment projects.
