About the role

A growing specialty manufacturer in Bloomington is seeking a Project Manager to own custom projects from purchase order through final delivery. The company manufactures highly engineered products used in complex construction environments. Projects can remain active for 6-24 months, and the PM serves as the connective tissue between customers, independent sales representatives, contractors, engineering, production planning, and logistics. The opportunity offers substantial autonomy, direct executive visibility, and room to grow as the company expands its project and operations organization.

Responsibilities

• Own a portfolio of 30-50 projects at varying stages from booking through delivery
• Maintain project milestones and proactively drive customer decisions needed to preserve schedules
• Coordinate submittals, shop drawings, approvals, and revisions with customers, architects, contractors, and engineering
• Manage change orders, including scope, pricing, schedule impact, authorization, and follow-through
• Negotiate customer requests against achievable internal schedules without overpromising
• Identify installation, delivery, site-readiness, and special-handling requirements before they become problems
• Provide consistent status communication and keep long-lead projects moving even during quiet periods

Requirements

• 3-5+ years of project management experience
• Background in construction, MEP/HVAC, building products, specialty contracting, or project-based manufacturing
• Experience coordinating submittals, drawings, approvals, schedules, or change orders
• Strong customer-facing communication, organization, and follow-through
• Comfortable managing ambiguity, competing priorities, and professional conflict
