About the role

The Project Manager at Schuff will oversee the construction of assigned projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed within expected timelines and budgets. They will collaborate with clients, other departments, and external parties to ensure smooth execution of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews project proposals and job scope plans to determine time frames, funding limitations, procedures for project completion, staffing requirements, and resource allocation.
  • Maintains all contractual terms and obligations for projects.
  • Ensures projects meet cost requirements and obtains approval for out-of-budget costs.
  • Interfaces with necessary departments and subcontractors to schedule work and materials.
  • Visits job sites as needed, including out-of-state travel.
  • Prepares reports for management and meets with key personnel to ensure project timeliness.
  • Confers with Owners, Architects, Engineers, Contractors, Detailers, and Plant and Field crews to verify the accuracy and completeness of construction drawings.
  • Reviews plans and proposals to determine appropriate procedures for achieving company and departmental goals.
  • Ensures all project aspects are thoroughly documented and monitored for quality control.
  • Directs, coordinates, and monitors project teams to ensure high-quality work.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Structural/Civil Engineering, or Business (preferred).
  • Thorough knowledge of fabrication and erection standards and procedures.
  • General knowledge of AISC standards and AWS codes.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret shop and design blueprint drawings.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
  • General knowledge of 3D modeling and Tekla system.
  • Ability to manage projects under strict deadlines.
  • Five (5) years of related experience as a Project/Construction Manager in the structural steel industry.

The above duties describe the primary responsibilities of the Project Manager. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Five (5) years related experience as a Project/Construction Manager in the structural steel industry.
  • Software & Technology: MS Windows 10, MS Office 365; Word, Excel, and Outlook; Contract Manager, Primavera Scheduling, Tekla system.

Work Environment

The position may require frequent air/road travel as needed. A clean driving record is required due to the need for road travel. A current and valid driver's license and proof of acceptable insurance are required. This position is generally indoors in a climate-controlled office but may involve frequent visits to outdoor plant facilities and project sites.
