About the role
The Project Manager is responsible for achieving project objectives and targets to ensure the successful completion of the project. This includes conducting project planning, managing, and resourcing the project, ensuring compliance with health, safety, training, environmental, and quality systems, contract administration, cost control systems, managing commercial interests, tracking deliverables, and providing leadership to the project team.
Responsibilities
- Exhibit sound leadership practices, provide direction and support to direct reports through daily meetings, reviews, and documented planning.
- Ensure strict adherence to Redpath’s Philosophy, Guidelines for Success, Code of Conduct, and Cardinal Rules.
- Establish full compliance with the Redpath 17-element safety program and monthly Safety Accountability Program (SAP).
- Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of project baselines and execution plans, including administrative setup.
- Manage project performance tracking through daily, weekly, and monthly reports; recommend corrective actions for deviations.
- Review and determine project schedules, manpower budgets, cost budgets, and cost control with managers.
- Effectively liaise with client representatives and other contracting companies’ personnel.
- Establish key performance indicators with Operations Management.
- Demonstrate conceptual skills in understanding project-organization-environment relationships and change impacts.
- Promote and support the Redpath/S32 management team.
- Review and approve investigation reports, disciplinary actions, expenditures for materials, and departmental rotational leave schedules.
- Review performance appraisal recommendations, approve promotions, and set salaries for national employees.
- Review and approve client invoicing.
- Work independently on complex and non-routine tasks.
- Ensure work areas are safe and free of hazards; perform Field Level Risk Assessments.
- Comprehend written and verbal instructions efficiently.
- Comply with daily, weekly, and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of Redpath and client information.
- Comply with Redpath’s Policies, Procedures, manuals, handbooks, directives, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Work in excess of 40 hours per week, including overtime, nights, weekends, holidays, and shift rotations.
- Comply with Redpath Core Competencies.
- Assist other job functions as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other construction-related fields.
- Postgraduate degree in Project Management or Business Administration (desired).
- Minimum 10-15 years of project management/controls experience in mining, shaft sinking, lateral development, or similar underground construction projects.
- Sound knowledge of contract principles and data manipulation into management information.
