Project Manager

About the role

Perform functions to direct, administer, and execute research and development activities for new product designs to meet market needs within manufacturing capabilities. Serve as an advocate for the Win strategy and lead special projects from start to completion, ensuring project goals, objectives, and budgets are met.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage special projects, ensuring completion of project goals, objectives, and budgets.
• Achieve target costs for all components and serve as a technical consultant for component and system problems for internal and external customers.
• Communicate effectively with customers, sales/marketing, and other divisions to resolve technical matters related to projects.
• Coordinate with material suppliers on new materials or processes applicable to new products.
• Identify new product and market opportunities through trade shows, customer visits, industry surveys, and outside consultants.
• Align internal divisions and outside suppliers to meet master timing, test and validation plans, prototype needs, and budgetary constraints.
• Serve as the prime point of contact for customer interface and status updates on new product development.
• Lead project teams to achieve chartered goals, track master Gantt charts, and ensure deliverables and milestones are met.
• Create and manage open issues lists, hold weekly or biweekly meetings, and establish supply chains.
• Ensure team participation to meet budgeted cost targets and validate test plans (DVP&R) to meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Manage programs per Win Strategy, hold stage gate reviews, and ensure team training and involvement.
• Plan and track project team efforts to achieve BETA milestones.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (BS) in mechanical, electrical, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Highly organized with the ability to follow projects through to completion.
• Previous experience with new product launches and commercialization.
• Knowledgeable in manufacturing processes and design background.
