Project Manager
About the Role
This position is responsible for direct project management of Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) and Repair and Renovation (R&R) projects. The role ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with Federal, State, and local building codes, as well as University requirements, while minimizing disruption to ongoing University activities.
The Capital Project Coordinator manages multiple, complex capital improvement projects valued up to $120M. These projects are moderately complex and technical, involving modifications to the physical educational and work environment, such as new construction, renovations, or upgrades to building systems. Examples include:
- Replacement of boiler equipment
- New roofing and underground utilities
- New buildings and renovated spaces
- Stormwater basins and parking lots
- Telecommunications and data centers
- Laboratory research facilities
- Multi-purpose spaces and landscaping
- Fire alarm, security, HVAC, and Life Safety systems
The position involves direct administration and coordination of contracts and professionals, requiring the ability to prepare for emerging needs, manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and create detailed action plans with minimal oversight. Knowledge of contract delivery methods governed by the Office of State Construction, such as Construction Management at Risk, is essential. The role also includes evaluating and providing timely recommendations for assigned projects to support project needs.
