Position Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for leading cross-functional engineering teams through the successful planning, execution, and delivery of complex software and electro-mechanical product development projects. This role ensures projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with technical, quality, and customer requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead software and electro-mechanical engineering projects from concept through product release using established project management methodologies and best practices.
- Develop and maintain integrated project plans, schedules, resource allocations, budgets, and risk management plans.
- Cook up cross-functional teams including software, embedded systems, electrical, mechanical, systems engineering, manufacturing, test engineering, and quality.
- Manage project scope, schedule, cost, risks, dependencies, and technical issues while driving projects to successful completion.
- Identify project risks early and develop mitigation strategies to minimize schedule, technical, and financial impacts.
- Monitor project performance using established metrics and provide regular status reports to leadership and stakeholders.
- Facilitate project meetings, design reviews, milestone reviews, and decision-making activities.
- Work closely with Program Managers, Engineering Managers, Product Management, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to ensure successful product delivery.
- Support transition from engineering development into manufacturing and production while ensuring product readiness, quality, and schedule objectives are achieved.
- Maintain project documentation, action items, change requests, and project records in accordance with company processes.
- Foster collaboration across disciplines while promoting accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of experience managing technical or engineering development projects.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary product development efforts involving software and hardware.
- Demonstrated success delivering projects on schedule, within budget, and within defined scope.
- Experience working in a structured engineering development environment.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of engineering product development involving one or more of the following: Software applications, Embedded software, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering, Systems engineering.
- Experience applying project management principles including: Project planning and scheduling, Risk management, Resource planning, Cost and schedule management, Change management.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, technically complex environment.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project and Excel.
- Experience with project management and engineering collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, or equivalent.
- Experience with requirements management and defect tracking tools such as Jama Connect, IBM DOORS, Jira, or similar platforms.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline required.
- Advanced degree or additional certifications in Project Management, Systems Engineering, or Technical Leadership are considered a plus.
