Meyer Building is a growing general contractor based just outside Fort Wayne, Indiana, known for its commitment to quality, strong client relationships, and disciplined approach to project management. We are seeking a driven, organized, and results-oriented Project Manager to take ownership of construction projects from planning through completion. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, problem-solving ability, and a proactive mindset, with a commitment to delivering projects on time and to the highest standards.

About the role

This role is responsible for managing schedules, budgets, quality, and coordination to ensure successful outcomes for both the customer and Meyer Building. You will work closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients, often managing multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring clear communication and alignment across all stakeholders. Qualified candidates could also be assessed for the role of Sr. Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management
    • Take ownership of overall project success, managing subcontractors and internal teams
    • Develop and manage project schedules to ensure milestones are met
    • Manage project budgets to maintain profitability
    • Manage project change orders
    • Write and manage subcontracts and purchase orders
    • Oversee project submittals to ensure timely review and approval
    • Manage project closeout documentation
  • Coordination & Communication
    • Serve as the central point of communication between team members, subcontractors, and project owners
    • Coordinate work with Meyer Building crew leaders and internal operations team
    • Lead regular project progress meetings and provide updates in weekly operations meetings
  • Field & Operational Oversight
    • Conduct jobsite visits to monitor progress and resolve issues
    • Coordinate equipment and resource needs with field and operations teams
    • Prepare and distribute weekly labor reports
    • Manage jobsite logistics, including utility locates, dumpsters, and portable restrooms
  • Quality & Problem Solving
    • Ensure project quality for both self-performed work and subcontractors
    • Proactively identify and resolve issues to prevent delays or cost impacts
    • Ensure all work meets Meyer Building standards and client expectations

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings and prints
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative without constant direction
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Prior experience in construction project management
