Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive material management plans for assigned capital projects, aligned with scope, schedule, cost, sequencing, and field execution needs.
- Validate Bill of Materials (BOMs), long-lead items, critical material constraints, and forecasted demand with engineering and construction partners.
- Identify material risks early and build mitigation plans (supplier alternatives, staging strategies, contingency inventory, etc.).
- Partner with procurement and suppliers to ensure timely purchase requisitions, competitive sourcing (as required), and alignment with contract terms.
- Monitor supplier performance, manufacturing schedules, and delivery commitments; proactively resolve issues.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain Operations to ensure materials are staged, kitted, and delivered according to the construction schedule.
- Oversee material management plans and ensure storage conditions, handling requirements, and tracking are executed correctly.
- Conduct periodic site visits to validate material availability, quality, and readiness.
- Maintain material budgets, track variances, and cost drivers; provide updates to project controls and Supply Chain leadership.
- Track all material-related activities against plan (deliveries, delays, shortages, surplus, changes).
- Serve as the primary Supply Chain liaison for all material-related aspects of assigned capital projects.
- Facilitate coordination among engineering, construction, procurement, suppliers, warehousing, and logistics stakeholders.
- Prepare and present status updates, risks, and mitigation plans to project teams and leadership.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen material management processes and eliminate recurring causes of material delays.
- Support implementation of standardized SC project workflows, templates, reporting, and lessons learned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management or related technical field or 4 years of equivalent/related work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in project management, supply chain, engineering, construction or operations.
- Experience supporting capital projects and working with suppliers, warehouses or logistics strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of material planning, sourcing, logistics, and construction workflows.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience with Maximo or other material management and warehouse management systems preferred.
