Project Manager – Capital Projects
About the Role
The Project Manager will manage design, new construction, and renovation and restoration projects for the 320-acre National Historic Landmark campus of Cranbrook Educational Community.
Responsibilities
- Selects and coordinates design professionals
- Defines project scope to fulfill program needs
- Develops budgets and schedules
- Coordinates with owners, designers, architects, engineers, and other consultants
- Selects and retains construction management firms, general contractors, and trades
- Manages project contracts, oversees budget and project cost control, communicates issues, and coordinates activities
- Supervises construction activities, tracks progress, resolves disputes, and maintains project schedule
- Collaborates with other Project Managers, Building Maintenance and Building Services Supervisors, Heads of Departments, and staff to maintain historical integrity and design renovation of spaces
- Interacts with Information Technology and Security Departments to ensure compliance with systems
- Administers project completion activities including punch list completion, submission of "as-built" drawings, maintenance and operations manuals, and warranties
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Interior Design
- Eight years professional commercial/institutional project management experience required; engineering experience desirable
- Experience in renovation of historical structures required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of architectural and engineering terminology, construction means and methods, building codes, asbestos abatement processes, cost estimating, manpower operations, and contractual procedures
