Project Manager – Capital Projects

About the Role

The Project Manager will manage design, new construction, and renovation and restoration projects for the 320-acre National Historic Landmark campus of Cranbrook Educational Community.

Responsibilities

• Selects and coordinates design professionals
• Defines project scope to fulfill program needs
• Develops budgets and schedules
• Coordinates with owners, designers, architects, engineers, and other consultants
• Selects and retains construction management firms, general contractors, and trades
• Manages project contracts, oversees budget and project cost control, communicates issues, and coordinates activities
• Supervises construction activities, tracks progress, resolves disputes, and maintains project schedule
• Collaborates with other Project Managers, Building Maintenance and Building Services Supervisors, Heads of Departments, and staff to maintain historical integrity and design renovation of spaces
• Interacts with Information Technology and Security Departments to ensure compliance with systems
• Administers project completion activities including punch list completion, submission of "as-built" drawings, maintenance and operations manuals, and warranties

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Interior Design
• Eight years professional commercial/institutional project management experience required; engineering experience desirable
• Experience in renovation of historical structures required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of architectural and engineering terminology, construction means and methods, building codes, asbestos abatement processes, cost estimating, manpower operations, and contractual procedures
